Khawaja Muhammad Asif , Federal Minister for Defence
H.E KHAWAJA MUHAMMAD ASIF, born on 09th August 1949, is a seasoned politician, who hails from District Sialkot in Punjab, Province of Pakistan. He received early education from Cadet College Hasan Abdal. Later, he graduated from renowned Government College, Lahore and then remained alumni of University Law College for specialized graduation in Law. In 2017, Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations awarded him an honorary doctorate in International Relations.
H.E KHAWAJA MUHAMMAD ASIF remained associated with Banking as profession from 1971 to 1991.
H.E KHAWAJA MUHAMMAD ASIF commenced his political career in 1991 after being elected as Senator in the Senate of Pakistan; the Upper House. After being Senator, till 1993; he had been elected as Member of National Assembly; the Lower House for six consecutive times through General Elections from 1993-1999 and again from 2002 - todate. He possesses rich experience being the member of the Cabinet for years; holding portfolio of Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Defence, Petroleum and Natural Resources, Water and Power and Sports in previous Governments of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He has also been designated as the Chairman of the Privatization Commission of Pakistan from 1997-99.
On 12th March 2024, H.E KHAWAJA MUHAMMAD ASIF took oath as 38th Federal Minister for Defence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
H.E KHAWAJA MUHAMMAD ASIF is happily married and blessed with a son and 3 x daughters.
